CAMP REPORT

A Mobile Gynae surgical Camp was conducted at Bhermour, District Chamba by Govt of Himachal Pradesh from 20th-22nd April 2010. Dr. Sonal Bathla, Consultant, Sant Parmanand Hospital, actively participated in it under aegis of AOGD, RCOG, IMS (Delhi chapter). 45 major & 9 minor surgeries were conducted in 3 days. The Major Gynaecological complaints & surgeries included:

1.Menorrhagia Non Descent Vaginal Hysterectomy 9
2.Menorrhagia with severe Anaemia Total Abdominal Hysterectomy 1
3.Prolapse VH with Repair/culdoplasty 3
4.Passage of stools per Vaginum CPT repair 1

All the patients were grand parae, HIV & HBsAg negative. Only one patient had severe anemia while 3 suffered from hypertension. Histopathology of hysterectomy specimens was done free by Dr. Sudhir Jain. It showed adenomyosis in 7, simple hyperplasia in 4 and benign endometrial polyp in one patient. All patients had chronic non specific cervicitis reported on HPE. One patient required blood transfusion. Patient with wandering fibroid had secondary hemorrhage & required resurgery. No major complication was encountered.

  • HPV vaccination camp under aegis of IMS in collaboration with MSD vaccines on 29/03/12 at Sant Parmanand Hospital in which 3doses of vaccinations were provided at cost Rs22,00/-.
  • Cancer screening Camp for under privileged women on 14/10/12 at Sant Parmanand Hospital in collaboration with Friends SPH. 126 women were registered.
  • Final dose of HPV immunization for 500 under privileged adolescent girls at Sant Parmanand Hospital was organized by Dr. Nirmala Agarwal with Friends of SPH.
  • Mobile Surgical Camp in Shillai, Dist Sirmour Himachal Pradesh from 23th to 27th Oct 2012 where 51 surgeries for prolapse uterus were conducted. The donations for this camp were raised by IMS.

Gynae Camp on 07/04/2013

A Gynae Camp was organized In association with Friends of Sant Parmanand Hospital Welfare Association,Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists-North Zone,AOGD and IMS (New Delhi Chapter)for poor and needy patients on 7th April 2013 at Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sant Parmanand Hospital . It was a well attended camp in which 80 patients registered and 74 presented for examination. The age range was 16 to 75 years. 17 had attained natural menopause and 5 had undergone surgical menopause. Thirteen patients had menstrual disturbances, 4 had infertility, 1 each had pregnancy and secondary amenorrhea. 16 patients had gastrointestinal complaints as chief complaint and 6 had headache. 56 patients had joint pains/backache and 38 suffered from anxiety/depression indicating the unattended needs in the society.

There was preexisting thyroid disorder in 9 patients, diabetes in 12 (uncontrolled in 6), hypertension in 6 (uncontrolled in 3) and history of treatment for tuberculosis in 5 patients.

All patients underwent detailed history, BP, weight, breast and gynecological examination. There were 26 patients with high blood pressure and 1 had breast lump. Hb, sugar and Urine R/M was done for all patients. 7 patients were found to be moderately anemic and 17 were diabetic. VIA (Visual inspection of cervix with acetic acid) was done for all sexually active patients and wherever there was a suspicious looking cervix, Paps smear was obtained. All the 9 Pap smears have been reported negative for malignancy.

P/S, P/V and TVS picked up 7 cases of Fibroid uterus, 1 endometrial polyp and 2 cases of endometrial hyperplasia. All patients received free medicines for one month. Investigations advised further were carried out at subsidised rates. Patients needing attention from Ortho and Medicine departments were promptly referred to respective consultants. 5 surgeries have already been planned and explained to patients.

All patients were also educated through talks by senior doctors on Cancer uterus, Breast cancer and Osteoporosis following which they were served snacks.

A Mobile Surgical Camp was organized at Lehmon Hospital, Herbertpur from 20th to 24th March 2013 by Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Sant Parmanand Hospital, Delhi under aegis of Indian Menopause Society, New Delhi Chapter with financial aid from ONGC. It was a pleasure to see poor patients brought from interiors of villages of Himachal Pradesh by an NGO, being able to get top quality surgical care near their place without any financial burden on them.We are happy to report that 35 patients were subjected to major surgeries & all of them were discharged in satisfactory condition with discharge medication & return fare in their hands. • Free Surgical Camp for prolapse patients at Sant Parmanand Hospital on 30th August 2013 in collaboration with inner wheel under aegis of IMS & RCOG in which 15 patients of prolapse and urinary incontinence were operated

A Mobile Surgical Camp was organized at Regional Hospital, Rekong Peo, Distt Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh from 23rd to 27th November 2013 by Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Sant Parmanand Hospital, Delhi under aegis of Indian Menopause Society, New Delhi Chapter in collaboration with NRHM and Shimla Sanitorium Hospital, Shimla. It was a Multispecialty Camp addressing General, Gynaecological and Ophthalmological surgeries and a total of 104 surgeries were conducted which is the highest score till date.

A Mobile Surgical Camp was organized at Lehmon Hospital, Herbertpur from 4th to 6th January 2014 by Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Sant Parmanand Hospital, Delhi under aegis of Indian Menopause Society, New Delhi Chapter with financial aid from ONGC. The camp took a new step by introducing laparoscopic cholecystectomies and Endourological surgeries. We had a strong surgical backup for follow up of these patients by Dr Daniel. Poor patients from interiors of villages of Himachal Pradesh were provided top quality surgical care without any financial burden on them.

We are happy to report that 31 patients were subjected to 37 major surgeries including B/L PCNL and URS in a few patients. A 22years old nulliparous woman with abdominal mass till epigastrium was subjected to myomectomy in which 16 myomas were removed and uterus was conserved. One patient with suspicious Pap’s smear was taken up for LLETZ which came out to be positive for cervical malignancy and rest all histopathologies were benign. All the patients were discharged in satisfactory condition with discharge medication. One Uretero renoscope got damaged in the camp which shall be reimbursed to the surgeon.
