CME on “Cancer Screening & Estrogens”

Public Awareness on “ Did You Get Your Sunshine Today” and Counseling of teachers about issues related to Menopause. Seventeen such events were conducted from 6th to 12thOctober 2012 in 17 different schools and colleges of Delhi.

Screening and Counseling Programme for Women with Familial and Genetic Cancers was conducted in collaboration with Dr Rajesh Sareen and Ms Payal from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai on 13th Oct 2012 at Sant Parmanand Hospital. Twenty families registered and 10 samples for BRCA 1 and 2 genes were sent.

Final Dose of HPV Vaccination was given to 44 women members of IMS and their associates in collaboration with MSD Vaccination on 13th Oct 2012 at Sant Parmanand Hospital.

Live Workshop on Urogynae & Vaginal Surgeries

A Live Workshop on Urogynae & Vaginal Surgeries was conducted by Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Sant Parmanand Hospital, Civil Lines, Delhi as a Pre-Conference Workshop of 28th AICC RCOG NZ Annual Conference held at Delhi, on Friday 30th August, 2013. The workshop was a tremendous success 103 registrations.

The convenors were Dr Nirmala Agarwal, Dr Ranjana Sharma, Dr U P Jha and Dr Sonal bathla.

Invited national operating faculty were The V P Paily(Kerala), Dr George Verghese(Himachal Pradesh), Dr Mollinath Mukherjee(kolkata), Dr Nirmala Agarwal (Delhi)and Dr Ranjana Sharma(Delhi).

There was demonstration of live surgeries on 13 patients with direct relay from the operation theatre. Each patient was professionally assessed by history and examination, a day prior to surgery by operating faculty. POPQ classification was assessed in all cases with uterovaginal /vault descent and each surgery was planned meticulously. Preoperatively, Pap Smear was done in all cases and Endometrial biopsy, CA 125 , Urodynamic evaluation was done in selected patients.

Cases demonstrated were NDVH, Vaginal Hysterectomy with TVT-O, NDVH + Vaginal Ligation, VH with TVT Exact, Lap adhesiolysis with NDVH with vaginal BSO, Surgery for procidentia with different approach, Introito Plasty, VH with Sacropinous fixation, Abdominal Sacrocolpopexy with mesh introitoplasty, Transvaginal full length Mesh/ Total prolift, VH + anterior and posterior facial repair, Vaginal Hysterectomy with full length mesh, Anterior mesh repair with urethral dilatation.

Invited lectures were given by the guest faculty Dr Pranathy Reddy , Dr Anita Patel & Dr Rakesh Kalra related to Anatomy, Physiology, Complications and care of patients with vaginal and urogynae complaints. Renowned and senior gynaecologists from Delhi were invited to chair the sessions.

Recent evidence based guidelines were presented during each surgery by Dr. Sonal Bathla, Dr Arbinder Dang and Dr. Priti Arora Dhamija who were moderating the sessions.

The workshop was hugely appreciated by all the faculty and delegates, who had come from all over India and the auditorium was full to the capacity till evening.

Reaching the unreached : Mobile Surgical Camps in Himachal Pradesh “ Paper presented by Dr Sonal Bathla at 14th world congress on Menopause in Cancun Mexico in May 2014 which compiled the data of 5 surgical camps conducted in Shillai Himachal Pradesh under aegis of Indian Menopause Society.

Panelist in Changing Perspective of Midlife Women’s Health in Rural India. Surgical Perspective presented by Dr Sonal Bathla at 14th world congress on Menopause in Cancun Mexico in May 2014 which showed the modus operendi of surgical camps through video.
